Equine emergency? A doctor is on call 24/7. 24/7 Emergency Emergencies: call (805) 496-0505 What to do in an emergency

Terms of Service

Last updated November 2026.

Draft for review. Adapted from Rhinebeck Equine’s Terms of Service for a California practice. Have California counsel review before launch, then remove this note.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of conejoequine.com and its pages, forms and content (together, the “Site”). The Site is operated by Conejo Valley Equine (“Conejo Valley Equine,” “we,” “us” or “our”), an ambulatory equine veterinary practice based at 888 E Thousand Oaks Blvd #100, Thousand Oaks, California 91360.

Please read these Terms before using the Site. By using the Site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

What these Terms cover

These Terms cover the Site only. They do not govern the veterinary care we provide. When we examine or treat your horse, that care is covered by the consent forms, estimates, invoices and client agreements we give you at the time. If anything in these Terms conflicts with those documents, those documents control.

Emergencies: please call, don’t type

If your horse may need urgent care, call (805) 496-0505. A Conejo Valley Equine veterinarian is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Outside office hours, our answering service takes your call and reaches the doctor on call.

Do not use the Site’s forms, email or social-media messages to report an emergency. They are not monitored around the clock, and you may not get a reply until the next business day.

General information, not veterinary advice

The articles, service descriptions, vaccination guidance and other content on the Site are general information about horse health and about our practice. They are not a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and they do not replace an examination of your horse by a veterinarian.

Browsing the Site, reading its content or sending us a form does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship. That relationship begins only when one of our veterinarians has examined your horse, or has otherwise met the requirements of California law, and has agreed to take responsibility for its care. Please do not start, stop or change any treatment or medication because of something you read on the Site. Talk to your veterinarian first.

Appointment requests and other forms

Our online forms are provided through third-party form services that receive and store submissions on our behalf.

  • A request is not a booking. Sending an appointment request does not reserve a date or time. Your appointment is confirmed only when a member of our team confirms it with you directly. Availability depends on location, our doctors’ schedules and the urgency of each case.
  • Accurate information. You agree that the information you send is accurate and complete. You also confirm that you own the horse or have the owner’s permission to request care or share information about it.
  • Age. The forms are meant for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent, guardian or the horse’s owner to contact us.
  • Sensitive information. Please do not put payment card numbers, bank details, Social Security numbers or passwords in a general form, an email or a text message.
  • How we reply. When you send a form, you agree that we may contact you about your request by phone, email or text message, using the details you give us. Message and data rates may apply to texts.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we use and protect what you send us.

Online pharmacy

Our online pharmacy at conejoequine.vetsfirstchoice.com is run by an independent pharmacy provider (Vets First Choice), not by Conejo Valley Equine. That provider’s own terms and privacy policy govern orders, payments, shipping, returns and the handling of your information on its site.

Prescription products are dispensed only with authorization from a Conejo Valley Equine veterinarian who has a current veterinarian-client-patient relationship with your horse, as California and federal law require. Our veterinarians may decline to authorize a prescription when, in their professional judgment, it is not right for your horse.

Links to other websites

The Site links to websites we do not operate, including the online pharmacy, the website of our rehab and conditioning facility in Somis (conejoequinerehab.com), educational resources, horse-transport services, referral hospitals, professional associations, maps and social media. These links are there for your convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, products, services, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement. You use other websites at your own risk and under their terms.

Our content and name

The Site and its content belong to Conejo Valley Equine or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. This includes the text, photographs and graphics, the Conejo Valley Equine name and logo, and the tagline “Where horses come first.”

You may view, download and print pages of the Site for your own personal, non-commercial use, for example to share care instructions with your barn manager or trainer. You must not alter them, and you must keep any copyright notices. Any other use needs our written permission. That includes republishing our text or photos, or using our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you.

Using the Site responsibly

When you use the Site, you agree not to:

  • break any law or encourage anyone else to;
  • send false information, pretend to be someone else, or submit a form for another person without their permission;
  • send spam, malware or anything designed to disrupt the Site or its forms;
  • try to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its forms or the systems behind them;
  • use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to copy content, collect personal information or submit forms; or
  • harass, threaten or abuse our staff or anyone else.

We may block access to the Site, or disregard submissions, that break these rules.

Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions about the Site or our services, we may use them without owing you anything. This does not apply to personal information or to information about your horse’s health. We handle that information as described in our Privacy Policy, and we keep veterinary records confidential as California law requires.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Site, including through our forms, how we use it, and the choices you have. It forms part of these Terms.

Accuracy and changes to the Site

We work to keep the Site up to date. Even so, details such as our services, doctor schedules, office hours, fees and promotions can change, and the Site may sometimes contain errors. Any fees or offers shown on the Site are general guidance only; our team confirms them at the time of service. We are not bound by typographical errors.

We may change, pause or remove any part of the Site at any time without notice. We do not promise that the Site will always be available or free of errors. If you have trouble using any part of the Site, call us at (805) 496-0505 and we will help you get the information or service you need.

Disclaimer

The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties about the Site, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site, its forms or any linked service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Conejo Valley Equine and its owners, veterinarians, employees and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising from or related to your use of the Site, its content, its forms or any linked website, or your inability to use them. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

This section applies to the Site only. It does not limit our responsibilities for the veterinary care we provide. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that California law does not allow to be limited, including liability for fraud, willful injury or violation of law.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Conejo Valley Equine and its owners, veterinarians, employees and agents against third-party claims, losses and reasonable costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that arise from your misuse of the Site or your breach of these Terms or of anyone else’s rights.

Governing law and where disputes are heard

The laws of the State of California govern these Terms and any dispute about the Site, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any such dispute will be heard only in the state courts located in Ventura County, California, or in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and you and we both consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.

Notice for California users

The Site is free to use. Under California Civil Code section 1789.3, California users are entitled to the following consumer rights notice: the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs may be contacted in writing at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by telephone at (916) 445-1254 or (800) 952-5210.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when they last changed. Changes take effect when they are posted, and if you keep using the Site after a change, you accept the updated Terms. When a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to point it out on the Site.

General

These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that part will be enforced as far as possible and the rest will stay in effect. If we do not enforce a provision, that does not mean we have waived it. Headings are for convenience only. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours to a successor to our practice. These Terms do not create any partnership, agency or employment relationship.
